Soekarno-Hatta Logs highest Passenger Traffic Since The Pandemic

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport management announced that the airport will potentially see 91,203 passengers depart from the airport in 623 flights. This number will be the highest the airport ever recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It will be higher today, and that is just from flight plans," said Soekarno-Hatta branch communication and legal senior manager M. Holik Muwardi to Tempo on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

He recalled the rise in passenger traffic came after the government no longer requires air travel passengers be tested for Covid-19 through PCR or antigen testing, which was officially introduced on March 8, 2022.

According to him, the airport has logged daily passenger traffic over 77 thousand per day, roughly 7,000 more than the usual traffic during the pandemic. He believed that the MotoGP race held in Mandalika this weekend has also contributed to the rise.
